I’ve been in gyms for 25 years.  During those times you begin to see the same people every day.  You see them lifting, running, sweating, but so many times they look the same year after year. In fact I would say that about 8 out of 10 members fall into this category.  Now I’m not saying that’s necessarily bad.  Some people just want to go to the gym and feel like there staying in shape. Some people go to the gym for the social aspect.  Some people go to the gym because they feel it allows them to eat whatever they want.

What I am saying is that if you are one of those people, you probably don’t need a personal trainer.

Honestly, I believe everyone should have a goal of measurable improvements year after year.  And just like you hire a professional plumber to fix your pipes or a professional electrician to wire your home, you need a professional to help you reach your physical fitness goals.

What personal trainers should provide:

  1. Accountability
  2. Motivation
  3. Periodized Progression
  4. Realistic Expectations
  5. Safety (This is a big one)

So before you begin your fitness journey and continue along your fitness path, decide what your goals are, make a plan and hire some help!
